Back in 1980, how would you have advertised a game that deals with monsters, treasures and dark caves? Well, probably you would have aimed it at the computer nerds, who were about the entire populace that played games about monsters, treasures and dark caves.

And that is just what Personal Software, Inc., at that time publishers of Infocom, did with Zork (from Byte Magazine, December 1980).

No trace yet of the later sophistication that Infocom sold the games with in bookstores.
